‘Call for evidence’ RFIs on agenda for May CFPB advisory board panel meetings

The two Consumer Advisory Board subcommittee teleconferences in May are open to the public; in all, 3 RFIs and services for vulnerable populations will be discussed.

Two subcommittees of an advisory panel to the federal bureau charged with consumer financial protection are slated to meet by teleconference May 10 and 22 on requests for information (RFIs) issued under the bureau director’s “call for evidence.” The meetings are open to the public but require an RSVP to receive dial-in information.

On May 10, the Mortgages and Small Business Lending Markets Subcommittee of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) will hold a call from 1-2 p.m. ET to discuss two (unspecified) RFIs related to Acting Director Mick Mulvaney’s “call for evidence” on its discussion agenda. (The call for evidence, carried out through 12 RFIs issued, is to obtain information showing whether the bureau is doing what it was created to do.)

On May 22, the CAB Card, Payment, and Deposits Markets Subcommittee will hold a call from 3-4:30 p.m. ET to discuss a “call for evidence” RFI as well as “lessons learned on designing financial products and features to meet the needs of specific targeted vulnerable populations.”

Written comments will be accepted from interested members of the public and should be sent to CFPB_CABandCouncilsEvents@cfpb.gov, a minimum of 7 days in advance of the meetings.

Those who wish to listen in on the Mortgages and Small Business Lending Markets Subcommittee meeting must RSVP via this link – https://goo.gl/ojr1Yj – by noon May 9. To join the Card, Payment, and Deposits Markets Subcommittee meeting, RSVP via the same link by noon May 21.
