New senior deputy comptroller at OCC for regional, midsize banks

Benjamin Eddy is the senior deputy comptroller for regional and midsize financial institutions for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the agency announced Monday.

In that role, Eddy oversees the supervision of national banks and federal savings associations between $30 billion and $500 billion in assets, the OCC said, and serves as a member of the agency’s executive committee.

The OCC said that prior to joining the agency, Eddy worked in the private sector “leading aspects of a bank’s risk, regulatory and operational transformation,” it said. “His career also includes roles in risk management, consulting, bank supervision and audit in various private sector companies and at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.”

“Ben brings deep knowledge of the bank regulatory and supervisory landscape and shares my vision for continual improvement,” Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan V. Gould said in a statement. He said Eddy “will play a key role in shaping and scaling supervision teams, as well as building the infrastructure needed to support them—ensuring it is aligned with the current and emerging structure of the banking system.”

The agency said Eddy, who took his post Monday, holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
