FDIC taps new deputy director for office of innovation

Zunera Mazhar is the new deputy director of the office of innovation at the federal insurer of bank deposits, where she will guide promotion of the adoption of innovative technologies at the agency and at banks, the agency said in a release.

According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), Mazhar most recently served as the chief of staff in the chief information officer’s office at the U.S. Department of Education. In that role, the FDIC said, she provided technological solutions to support schools, students, and families.

Before that, she was chief of communications at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate.
