FDIC economic inclusion panel to meet next week on tech/innovation, account access

The federal bank deposit insurer’s economic inclusion advisory panel is slated to meet virtually next Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. ET, the agency said in a release, with the meeting expected to last until 5 p.m.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion (ComE-IN) meeting, which will be webcast live, will include two panels of experts discussing Expanding Inclusion Through Technology and Innovation; and Expanding Account Access via the FDIC Public Awareness Campaign #GetBanked, which was launched on April 5, 2021.

FDIC Chairman Jelena McWilliams will provide opening and closing remarks, and the technology and innovation panel will feature the FDIC’s new chief innovation officer, Sultan Meghji.

The agency said the committee will also report on key challenges and opportunities for inclusion in their communities.
