FDIC holding four deposit insurance seminars from September to December

Bank employees and bank officers are the target audience for a series of four identical deposit insurance seminars scheduled to be held remotely between Sept. 15 and Dec. 10 by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), the agency said Wednesday.

In a Financial Institution Letter (FIL-75-2020), the agency said the live webinars, conducted by telephone via Cisco WebEx conferencing software and each including a question-and-answer session, will provide a comprehensive overview of FDIC deposit insurance rules. Also covered will be deposit insurance coverage information on signature card requirements for joint accounts, prepaid cards, bank trade names, health savings accounts (HSAs), 529 plan accounts, and 529 Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) plan accounts, the agency said.

The FDIC said also that it has developed three separate Deposit Insurance Coverage Seminars for bank officers and employees that are available on the FDIC’s YouTube channel. These are pre-recorded and intended to be used on a self-study basis, it said.

The live seminars are scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Sept. 15; 2 p.m. on Oct. 21; 1 p.m. on Nov. 2; and 3 p.m. on Dec. 10. The seminars are free, but advance registration is required.
