Agency unveils online resource for consumers to check up on complaints against financial institutions

A new, online information and support center where consumers can check the status of inquiries or complaints they have made against a federally insured bank or thrift was unveiled Monday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC).

The online resource, the FDIC said, was unveiled in observance of National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW), which runs through this week. The online tool is intended, FDIC said, to help consumers “understand their rights and make well-informed decisions about money.”

In addition to allowing consumers to review the status of their complaints, the agency said, it also includes a new FDIC Knowledge Center, providing answers to questions about banking and lending.
