Fed governors will be speaking more next week on economy, monetary policy

The chairman and a board member of the Federal Reserve take to stages again next week to discuss the economy and monetary policy in two separate addresses, according to the Fed’s calendar for the week.

Chairman Jerome H. (“Jay”) Powell is scheduled to discusses monetary policy normalization and review Friday (March 8) at the 2019 Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) Economic Summit, in Stanford, Calif. The speech will be Powell’s fourth public appearance in the last two weeks, after appearing twice before Congress and delivering an address Thursday in New York – speaking, essentially, about the same things (monetary policy and normalization). The address is set for 10 p.m. ET. The address is also scheduled to be live-streamed via the Internet.

Board Member Lael Brainard offers her take on nearly the same subjects the day before (Thursday, March 7) when she discusses “Economic and Monetary Policy Outlook”at thelLecture series hosted by Princeton University’s Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance and the Bendheim Center for Finance, Princeton, N.J. Brainard is scheduled to deliver her remarks at 12:15 p.m.
