FDIC chair opens meeting of economic inclusion panel next Wednesday

A review of a “mobile study” by the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority as well as youth employment programs and deposit accounts are on the agenda for a meeting Oct. 24 by a federal bank deposit insurance agency advisory committee.

The meeting, by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion, will begin with remarks by board Chairman Jelena McWilliams, followed by a presentation of data from the agency’s 2017 household survey.

The committee was established by the FDIC Board in November 2006 to provide the FDIC with advice and recommendations on important initiatives focused on expanding access to banking services for underserved populations.

The meeting, held at FDIC headquarters in Washington, will be open to the public and webcast live.
