FDIC updates Q&As about signage denoting deposit insurance coverage

Updated questions and answers about regulations governing signs notifying customers and the public of federal bank deposit insurance coverage at covered financial institutions have been published by the insurance agency, it said Friday.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) said the updated Q&As – in a financial institution letter (FIL 22-2026) provide answers to a “collection of questions” from banks, trade groups, technology companies, vendors and other entities. The agency said the aim of the update is to “promote transparency and support implementation efforts.”

The Q&As reflect the agency’s regulation amended this year governing FDIC official signs (including advertising, false advertising, misrepresentation of insured status, and misuse of the agency’s name or logo).

Compliance date for the final rule in April 1, 2027.
