FDIC seeks papers for September research conference

A call for theoretical and empirical appers on banking issues was issued Monday for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) 25th Annual Bank Research Conference, slated Sept. 24-25 in Arlington, Va.

The agency said topics for papers may include, but need not be limited to, the following:

  • Regulatory reform options and considerations
  • Risk and resiliency in the financial system
  • Real effects of financial turmoil
  • Innovations in financial intermediation
  • Deposit insurance and stability
  • Emerging competitive threats to traditional banking
  • AI and technology in finance
  • Banks’ role in the 21st Century

There will also be a poster submission open to Ph.D. students in economics, finance, and related fields, the agency said; submissions should include a complete draft of the paper.

The FDIC said paper and poster submissions must be received by April 24; authors will be notified about the status of their papers in July.
