CFPB notes updates to HMDA filing instructions guide for 2021 data

An update to the filing instructions guide (FIG) for data collected in 2021 and reported in 2022 under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) was announced Monday by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The bureau said edits Q656 and Q657, which relate to exemption codes, in Table 8: Macro Quality Edits for Loan/Application Register have been reclassified and moved to Table 7: Quality Edits for Loan/Application Register. The bureau said these edits are now considered “Quality Edits” for filing purposes and that filers receiving these edits will be able to see which specific records in their filings are affected.

The FIG is published by the umbrella Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC).
