Minority depository institutions focus of March 3-4 forum led by NCUA’s Hood

A two-day Minority Depository Institution (MDI) Forum taking place at the Treasury Department and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) next week, March 3 and 4, is open to credit unions on a first-come, first-served basis, the NCUA said in an “Express” message to credit unions Monday.

NCUA Chairman Hood will host this event and lead an “intimate conversation” with Calvin Harris, who is chief financial officer of the National Urban League, as well as relevant industry stakeholders and the MDI attendees, the notice states. Hood is inviting MDI credit unions to take part in the discussion, to attend the Chairman’s reception immediately following, and to participate in an MDI training session the next day at the NCUA’s central office.

Credit unions interested in attending should email MDIForum@NCUA.gov with contact information of all those planning to go; and indicating which days these individuals will attend. Space is limited, hence the first-come, first-served basis for registration. NCUA said that d]ue to security requirements, only registered guests will be allowed into the buildings for the events; a driver’s license or other state-issued photo identity card must be presented for admission to either facility.

The NCUA said Day 1 of the forum (March 3) runs from 3 to 5 p.m. ET and will be held at the Treasury Department at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. The Day 2 (March 4) training will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at NCUA headquarters at 1775 Duke St., Alexandria, Va.
