NCUA chairman forming internal Culture Council

The chairman of the federal agency that charters, regulates and insures credit unions said Wednesday that he is establishing a new council “to focus on issues of inclusion within the agency.”

This new National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Culture Council, said agency Chairman Rodney Hood, will “serve an important advisory and policy-making role within the agency to ensure that inclusion and equity are top priorities.”

Hood, in his prepared remarks, did not name council members or say when the group will begin work, but he said he planned to report on its progress in the future.

Hood made the announcement as he gave opening remarks for the NCUA’s first Credit Union Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit, which is slated to be an annual event. All three agency board members – Hood, Board Member J. Mark McWatters, and Board Member Todd Harper – were on Wednesday’s program.
