New agency external affairs director tapped by credit union regulator board chair

Lenwood Brooks is the new director of external affairs for the federal regulator of credit unions, the agency’s board chairman said Wednesday; Brooks joins the agency May 28.

In a release, National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board Chairman Rodney E. Hood said he appointed Brooks – a former trade association executive and Capitol Hill staffer – to the position. Brooks will serve as assistant to the chairman and director of external affairs for the agency. In the position, he will manage NCUA’s Office of Public and Congressional Affairs as well as intergovernmental and stakeholder relations, Hood said.

Brooks is a former communications vice president for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA); he has also served on the staff of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) working on issues related to the Senate Banking Committee.

Brooks is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
