OCC supervisory booklet updates address BSA/AML risk, more

Revised Comptroller’s Handbook booklets on the bank supervisory process, community bank supervision, compliance management systems and large bank supervision were issued Thursday by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), along with an updated booklet on federal branches and agencies supervision.

The OCC detailed the changes in its Bulletin 2018-18. Among the numerous highlighted updates and clarifications is inclusion of examiner guidance for assessing asset management and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/anti-money laundering (AML)/Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) risks. “Guidance for assessing the quantity of BSA/AML/OFAC risk is consistent with appendixes J and M of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council BSA/AML Examination Manual,” the bulletin notes. The updates also incorporate relevant aspects of the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, it states.

The bulletin also lists publications that are rescinded after being replaced, rendered out of date or incorporated into other guidance booklets.
