OMB staffer named in charge of consumer bureau’s communications after serving dual role since November

John Czwartacki has been named chief communications officer and spokesman for the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (BCFP), the agency said in release Monday.

According to the bureau, in November Czwartacki (a staff member for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)) was detailed as a senior advisor at BCFP by Acting Director Mick Mulvaney upon Mulvaney’s appointment in November. Mulvaney serves as director of both the consumer bureau and the OMB.

The bureau said, in the release, that Czwartacki has transitioned from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to the BCFP, “where his 30 years of experience in public and private sectors will now be applied full time.” No further detail is provided.
