Bank, thrift directors offered two San Diego workshops in Oct.

Flood Disaster Protection Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Lending, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Community Reinvestment Act, and other major compliance risks and critical regulations are the topics of workshops for bank and thrift directors sponsored by the OCC Oct. 24 and 25 in San Diego, the agency announced Wednesday.

The workshops (fee is $99) will be held at the Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside.

The Oct. 24 “Compliance Risk workshop” combines lectures, discussion, and exercises on the critical elements of an effective compliance risk management program. The Oct. 25 “Operational Risk workshop” focuses on the key components of operational risk—people, processes, and systems. The workshop also covers governance, third-party risk, vendor management, and cybersecurity, OCC said in a release.

Participants receive a pre-workshop reading package and course materials, and assorted supervisory publications, according to OCC, and limited to the first 35 registrants. The sessions are taught by experienced OCC staff and are offered nationwide, OCC said, to enhance and expand the skills of national community bank and federal savings association directors.
