A series of six in-person, full-day workshops for board directors and senior management of national community banks and federal savings associations is being offered by the national bank regulator in 2026, the agency said Thursday.
Thursday’s news release appears to be the first since February 2024 on the availability of such workshops from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
The OCC said continuation of the workshops “builds on the OCC’s intentional efforts to support community banks through dedicated educational opportunities.”
The agency said the workshops, led by examiners, are limited to 25 participants each. It said the sessions “provide practical training and guidance to directors and senior management of national community banks and federal savings associations to support the safe and sound operation of community-based financial institutions.”
The workshops are aimed at institutions with less than $15 billion in assets, according to online information.
The six day-long workshops, at a fee of $179 each, are:
- Building Blocks: Strong Management – Ready and Responsible (“core” workshop)
- Risk Governance: Strategic Oversight for Evolving Risks
- Compliance Risk: Understand the Rules, Act Responsibly
- Credit Risk: Recognize and Respond to Risk
- Operational Risk: Navigate Rapid and Wide-Ranging Changes
- Asset Management: Manage Risk, Maximize Return
Also offered is a half-day workshop, Capital Markets: Keep Current and Consider Risk, at a fee of $129. The OCC said the workshop covers balance sheet management risks, as well as hot topics and risk themes for bankers and regulators in the capital markets area.
Workshop fees are up from 2024, when they were set generally at $99 (day-long) and $49 (half-day). All but the Building Blocks workshops are part of what the OCC calls its “risk management” series. Some of these are offered as “consecutive” sessions, with fee discounts available, the agency said.
