Hill sworn in for 5-year term as FDIC chairman, removing ‘acting’ from title

Removing the “acting” from his name, Travis Hill was sworn in as the 23rd chairman of the board of the federal deposit insurance agency Tuesday, the agency said. He was confirmed by the Senate to the position Dec. 18.

He had previously served as acting chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) Board since Jan. 20 of last year. Before that, he was vice chairman since Jan. 5, 2023.

He is serving a five-year term as FDIC Board chairman. An appointee of President Donald Trump ( R), he succeeds Martin Gruenberg (an appointee of President Joe Biden (D)) in the position.

A former staff member of the Senate Banking Committee, he also served previously at the FDIC and worked at Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala.
