CFPB ends silence; provides ‘tips, reminders’ for 2026 HMDA filings

Reminders and tips for 2026 Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) filings were issued Tuesday by the federal consumer financial protection agency, which also noted some updates to file locations.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) noted that an upgrade has been made to the HMDA platform. The rate spread average prime offer rates (APOR) paths have been changed, resulting in changes in file paths for fixed, adjustable and survey tables.

The bureau said as of Jan. 20, the old APOR file paths will be removed. Inaccessible and APOR files will no longer be provided via the Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 “public bucket.” The bureau urged users to update bookmarks and integrations to correspond with these changes.

The bureau also noted that data submissions will close on March 2.

Other points addressed in the message include: user account, active HMDA platform users, multiple user accounts, legal entity identifier (LEI), “no associated institutions” messages, online loan/application register (LAR) formatting, and more.
