Fifty-five outdated or replaced bulletins and other issuances – including advisory letters, circulars, and more — were rescinded by the national bank regulator Thursday; the issuances were published over a 40-year period, the regulator said.
In addition, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said, 21 transmittal (or cover) bulletins issued between 2003 and 2023 were also withdrawn.
The agency said the rescissions for the issuances from 1983 to 2023 were conducted for four reasons; that is, that the OCC deemed that the issuance is:
- Outdated: Is no longer needed; any attachments to the document are rescinded only as they relate to OCC-supervised banks.
- Replaced: It and any attachments were replaced by a subsequent publication.
- Incorporated: Conveyed content that has been incorporated into another OCC publication.
- A transmittal: Is a cover letter that conveyed another document, such as a proposed rule or final rule, an interpretive letter, or a document from another regulatory entity. The rescission does not apply to the conveyed document.
