8 banks ‘outstanding,’ 24 ‘satisfactory’ in OCC’s latest CRA ratings list

Eight banks deemed “outstanding” and 24 “satisfactory” for their performance under the anti-redlining Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) make up the list of institutions whose ratings became public in November, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said Monday.

Monday’s list includes no designations of “needs to improve” or “substantial noncompliance,” the only other two ratings possible under CRA.

Banks rated “outstanding” included:

  • Seacoast National Bank, Stuart, Fla.
  • American Bank, National Association, Le Mars, Iowa
  • The Citizens First National Bank of Storm Lake, Storm Lake, Iowa
  • Chester National Bank, Chester, Ill.
  • The Bradford National Bank of Greenville, Greenville, Ill.
  • First National Bank of Omaha, Omaha, Neb.
  • First National Bank & Trust Company of McAlester, McAlester, Okla.
  • First National Bank in Philip, Philip, S.D.

The OCC’s CRA evaluations assess an institution’s record of meeting the credit needs of its entire community, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, consistent with the safe and sound operation of such institution. It said Monday’s list includes the national banks, federal savings associations, and insured federal branches of foreign banks that have received CRA ratings.
