Dana Wade named FDIC deputy to the chairman and chief of staff

The board of the federal bank deposit insurance agency has approved Dana T. Wade to be deputy to the chairman and chief of staff, the agency said in a release Monday.

Wade will serve as advisor to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) Acting Chairman Travis Hill “on a range of issues,” help manage day-to-day operations, and oversee all divisions and offices, according to Monday’s release. (Hill’s nomination in September to a five-year term as FDIC chairman awaits a Senate vote on confirmation.)

The FDIC said Wade, with almost two decades of experience working on financial issues in the public and private sector, is a former commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration and assistant secretary of housing at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. It said she most recently was an executive at the Peter J. Peterson Foundation.

It said Wade has held senior roles at the Office of Management and Budget and on four congressional committees, including as the deputy staff director of the Senate Banking Committee and as a senior advisor to the House Financial Services Committee, and has experience as a senior executive for a commercial real estate finance company.

Wade holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the agency said.
