The federal consumer financial protection agency’s Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) is slated to hold its first open meeting of the year Dec. 10, according to a notice in Monday’s Federal Register.
That meeting will include, among other things, discussion of the “current state of small dollar products,” the notice says.
The CAB was created to advise the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on the agency’s functions under federal consumer financial laws, the notice states, and has among its objectives “identifying and assessing the impact on consumers and other market participants of new, emerging, and changing products, practices, or services.”
This advisory body was last slated to meet for its 2025 winter session in February, but the CFPB canceled both that meeting and a planned combined meeting of the Community Bank Advisory Council (CBAC) and Credit Union Advisory Council (CUAC). The latter two groups have yet to meet this year.
The CAB meeting for Dec. 10 is being billed as the group’s “winter” 2025 meeting.
The meeting, to be held online (in “listen only” mode), is slated to run from approximately 2-3:30 p.m. eastern. The bureau said members of the public will receive the agenda and dial-in information when they RSVP here.
It said the agenda will also be available online Dec. 9 on the agency’s website.
