Treasury names former Scalise advisor as deputy assistant secretary for FI policy

John Crews is Treasury’s deputy assistant secretary for financial institutions policy, according to an announcement Friday by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Crews, according to the release, was previously a policy advisor to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), covering economic and financial services policy. Before that, he was policy director for the Senate Banking Committee. He also served in the first Trump administration at the National Economic Council as a special assistant to the president for economic policy. Crews graduated from Princeton University, it says.
