2024 FDIC Ombudsman activities summarized in report

A brief, seven-page (plus cover) report highlighting 2024 activities of the agency’s Office of the Ombudsman was released Tuesday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC).

In a Financial Institution Letter (FIL-12-2025), the FDIC said the ombudsman office “is a resource for bankers and other stakeholders seeking an independent, neutral, and confidential liaison for informally discussing disagreements with findings or conclusions of the agency, and for identifying strategies and options to facilitate fair outcomes.”

Noting last year’s activities, the report says the office engaged with “stakeholders” by, among other things, providing liaison services between bankers and the agency; discussing options for resolving disagreements over supervisory findings or conclusions; and responding to requests for information about the agency’s regulatory or resolution-related activities.
