Texas commissioner re-elected as chair of state liaison committee to Exam Council

The Texas commissioner of banking will serve as the chair of the state regulator liaison committee for another year to the umbrella group of federal financial institution regulators, the agency announced Thursday.

Charles G. Cooper, commissioner of the Texas Department of Banking, was re-elected as chair of the state liaison committee of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, the agency said. The term runs for one year.

The FFIEC said he was also reselected as a member of the SLC for a term that runs from May 1 to April 30, 2026.

The FFIEC said Cooper has served as Texas commissioner since 2008. He has also served as the chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS), the trade group for state bank regulators.

Currently, he also serves as state banking representative on the financial banking information infrastructure committee and previously served on the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC), FFIEC said in a release.
