Comments due: CFPB (request for comment; bureau’s data inquiry to big-tech firms)

December 6

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is inviting comments on its Oct. 21 orders seeking payments-related data from six large technology firms. The Oct. 21 orders went to Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Square, and PayPal. (The CFPB said it will also study the practices of the Chinese tech giants that offer payments services, such as WeChat Pay and Alipay.) The bureau said it “invites any interested parties, including consumers, small businesses, advocates, financial institutions, investors, and experts in privacy, technology, and national security to submit comments to inform the agency’s inquiry.”
